Leave those inhibitions (and boring black hair) aside, and have some fun under the sun with L’Oréal Paris’s Excellence Fashion Highlights at-home kit. This step-by-step guide by the brand’s international expert Christophe Robin will have you DIY-ing your way to beautiful caramel and honey-toned tresses.
Find your perfect shade… By looking at celebrities with a similar skin tone as you. If a colour suits them, chances are it will suit you too.
Start right… The best way to start a DIY colouration is with dry, detangled hair that’s parted tidily. It’s better to have the hair freshly cut to highlight the length—you don’t want to cut your length after colouration! To get the perfect natural colouration you should highlight harder around the face and the length.

Do it yourself…

  1. First, wear an old T-shirt.
  2. Separate the hair just above your ears and fasten it with a hair clip.
  3. Put on the gloves, and mix the crème colour and developer in a bowl.
  4. Dip the special brush in the mix, then glide along the lengths. Always put product on the brush when you repeat the gesture.
  5. Tilt your head back when you highlight around your face.
  6. Once you are done with the colouration of that part, take off the hair clip and repeat the previous step.
  7. Let the highlights develop for 30 to 45 minutes depending on the desired intensity of highlights.

L’Oréal Paris Excellence Fashion Highlights in Caramel Brown and Honey Blonde, Rs 399 each

The risks of at-home styling are high. Is this what burnt hair smells like? Is this iron too hot? Wait, this hairstyle doesn’t look like the Insta-inspiration! But with the right gear, it’s a feat easily achievable. It all starts with a fundamental step—protection. Consider Moroccanoil’s Mending Infusion—a serum-lotion hybrid—the instant fix that will hydrate brittle ends and strengthen strands to take on all the pulling and tonging your hair is faced with. Apart from the antioxidant-rich argan oil, the lightweight formula also includes baobab extract from the larch tree for moisture, hydrolysed quinoa to restore strength and other nurturing elements. Massage into dry hair—mid-lengths to ends—and style away. Moroccanoil Mending Infusion, Rs 2,475

The vibrant, glowy colours—pops of pink, orange and coral—take inspiration from bright Sakura cherry blossoms dotting gardens in Tokyo and look as pretty as a walk in those gardens sounds.
