Magic Bus mantra
Once a year, an evening of entertainment is curated by Magic Bus, a charity that is striving to make the lives of Indian children better.
But there’s a big underlying reason for their annual gala that goes beyond just revelry.
What is it?
An evening of generosity through an auction. Magic Bus uses auction donations to invest in a system that ensures children from entire communities in India’s slums grow up in a dignified manner, away from poverty and with proper education, so they can eventually get the jobs they desire.
Who’s involved?
Founded by Matthew Spacie, Magic Bus has a committee of fearless philanthropists like Samantha Nayar, Smiti Kanodia and Sunaina Murthy amongst others, who come together and guide this journey of selfless giving. “Every child you support will go to school and at the very least complete the 10th standard. The girls will not get married before the age of 18, but will go on to study at university and get a job. That’s what we achieve for every child,” says Spacie.
What is the Magic Bus evening?
It’s an auction and dinner at St Regis on Thursday, April 21, hosted by Mandira Bedi. Attendees will include Abhishek Bachchan, a Magic Bus patron for many years, Kanika Kapoor, Lisa Haydon, Mahesh Bhupati and others.
What’s being auctioned?
Take your pick: a whisky trail in Scotland. A visit to the Parisian atelier of Christian Louboutin. Bespoke couture for you and your child. VIP seats to attend the Dior Couture show in Paris…and much more.
What’s for me?
A chance to bid on a unique experience and more importantly, be the catalyst in helping a child reach her or his potential in life.
