We would all like to channel Queen Bey’s lyrics “I woke up like this”—roll out of bed with tousled waves that fly away just right.
But your mane can be quite a realist at times, and doesn’t always behave the way you’d want it to. Bedhead was big on the spring 2016 runways, with looks that ranged from messy top knots to wild waves set free. At Marc Jacobs, it was all grunge and glam with semi-wet strands held together like you would carelessly do after a long nightout of serious dancing. Alexander Wang models’ channeled their inner crazy by letting their tresses be, no restrictions.
At Tory Burch and Creatures of the Wind, hair was taken and twisted into unstructured buns—you know, the first thing you do if you’ve got a goldilocks moment happening in the morn. And indefinitely making it to the category of cool girl hair is the infamous hun (half-bun)—the quickest hairdo famous among celebrities and models alike.
How do you mimick bedhead, morning-after hair? Buffing up your hair with some texturizing spray, shaking things up (turn your head upside down and start to run your fingers messily through your head), and strategically letting strands fly out of your scrunchy. A dry shampoo is another great invention that adds volume and movement to unwashed hair.
Don’t forget to play the anthem in the background though, because like Beyoncé said: we flawless, ladies!
