Did you know that precious stones can give your face the best glow?

$
0
0

If you faintly remember hearing of gua sha, a traditional Chinese medical treatment, you might be in for a little shock when we tell you that the therapy is being used in facials now. Because in gua sha (loosely translated to ‘scraping’), the skin of your body is scraped so light bruises are produced, which help release toxins, stimulate blood flow, and heal.

It’s for these reason facialists in the US are big on this holistic treatment. Think of it as acupuncture for your face, where a piece of rose quartz or flat jade is used to scrape (or massage) your face. The not-so-scary part: while your body is left slightly bruised in traditional gua sha, the face carries no marks post treatments because it’s a gentler version using delicate movement and therapeutic oils.

Gua sha facials help drain lymphatic fluids and increase blood flow, to release muscle tension and dehydration from your skin. This ultimately brings out the skin’s natural glow, so at the end, you’re left with a healthy looking flush. And if you can’t find a facialist in your locality to do it for you, there are gua sha tools you can find online, if you’re planning block off some me-time at home.

It’s hard to refuse a Sunday brunch invitation—why would anyone say no to a long, lazy, multiple-course meal on a non-working afternoon? For 2017, though, we decided to do things a bit differently.

In keeping with our Vogueathon spirit to kickstart the year on a healthier note, Vogue organised a fitness brunch at Lodha – The World Towers in Mumbai (which stands to be one of India’s tallest buildings), and here’s why guests found it hard to refuse this invitation.

  • The world-class Fitness Centre in the Tower, spread over 10,000sqft (and is going to be one of the largest in the city in a residential development), made for the perfect setting, while guests enjoyed live music and healthy juice blends.
  • The menu was a scrumptious curation of healthy options crafted by Gaia Gourmet and Vanika Choudhari of Sequel. From Som Tam Watermelon and Water Chestnuts with Katiafi salad and California Amaranth Maki Rolls with Soya Air to Edamame Truffle Asparagus Phyllo Cups—it’s the kind of food you’d give up your mac and cheese for. But wait, there was a Four Cheese Mac and Cheese too—a healthy version, of course. Bandra-based restaurant Sequel whipped up delicious smoothie bowls and beckoned people to its live salad bar.
  • Guests got a taste of what it’s like to train with celebrity trainer Cindy Jourdain (also Katrina Kaif’s trainer), as she recapped her journey into fitness.
  • Celebrity nutritionist Suman Agarwal busted nutrition myths and gave the guests tips on what to eat and avoid.

The day ended with guests leaving with advice on how to make healthier lifestyle changes in 2017 and the goodie bags from Protein Bake Shop to ensure they stick with these resolutions.

All the hair lessons we learnt from New York Fashion Week

Switch up your hair with some of the best looks we caught at New York Fashion Week autumn/winter 2017.

1/12

victoriabeckham

Victoria Beckham, Bibhu Mohapatra and Jonathan Simkhai

Lesson to learn: Keep it simple.
Beckham showed us that it’s okay to let your hair be sometimes—just straight, long, loose. Parted in the middle, tucked behind the ear—fuss-free and real. The models at Bibhu Mohapatra channeled similar carefree tresses, parted unevenly. Just like at Simkhai, where it was tied at the nape into a low ponytail. Back to basics.

Look 1 at Alexander Wang

Lesson to learn: You don’t need to be perfect.
It maybe nightmarish for a perfectionist to walk out with tousled, unkempt hair, but that’s exactly why you need to try it, to break out of your comfort zone. There’s something inexplicably sexy about messy, bed-head curls. Maybe it’s the devil-may-care attitude that’s tempting, but we’re spritzing some texturising spray this week to find out.

Look 2 at Alexander Wang

Lesson to learn: Change is good.
You know it’s time for a drastic makeover when your identity is defined by the length of your locks. You cannot imagine how life is going to change if you get a blunt bob with choppy bangs, like the models at Wang. Give it a shot.

thakoon-getty

Thakoon, Noon, Altuzarra

Lesson to learn: Wet look is achievable, and it lasts.
Slicked-back hair is sophisticated and also talks a lot about your complex styling abilities. Work a high shine gel from root to tips using a fine-toothed comb and move in the direction of where you want the hair to sit. Thakoon’s spring/summer 2017 show saw models wearing this do in high top knots.

Lesson to learn: Accessorise!
It just takes your hair game to a whole new level. Pretty, embellished hair pins will add the romance missing from your life.

Lesson to learn: Top knot upgraded.
Tie your top knot really high, at the crown, on the side. Not your usual bun, this.

Lesson to learn: Put a ribbon on it.
If you’re not into severe updos, try Marchesa’s dreamy chignons, loosely tied at the back like you would without a mirror. The romantic addition: silk bows and floral crowns.

Would you try this dermat-approved hack for hiding dark circles?

$

Chipped nails, bedhead hair (not the kind that can go up on social media with an #IWokeUpLikeThis), the face of someone who’s had one too many kamikazes the previous night—we’ve all had a succession of moments that we wished could somehow resolve themselves overnight. And while some of us (a very tiny number) can spend long days at the salon reversing these concerns, most of us have to deal with them on our own due to the lack of time (some may even call it procrastination). These hacks will turn you into the beauty expert you no longer have time to be.

1/5

dark-circles

Dark circle quick fix

Whether they’re the result of a late night Netflix binge or stress, there are few sure-fire solutions for dark circles (de-stressing, sleeping well and a good concealer are amongst the best). For a quick fix, try Dr Jamuna Pai’s recipe: Mix 1 tsp milk powder, 1⁄2 tsp curd, 2 drops of lemon juice and 2 drops of honey. Apply the paste on the dark circles. Wait for 10-15 minutes and wash it off with cold water.

Image: Shutterstock

facial-masks

Facial without a facialist

A little bit of scouting and you’ll find that you don’t need to go for a facial regularly to get your skin glowing. There are at-home peels and masks that will do the work of a facialist for you. Try Dior’s DreamSkin 1-Minute Mask.

Image: Shutterstock

eyes

Day to night make-up in seconds

Take a smudging brush or use your pinky to smoke out your already smudged out kohl that you’ve worn through the day, for evening drinks. It will take all of 60 seconds to go from drab to glam. Top it up with multiple mascara coats.

Image: Shutterstock

manicure

Chipped nails but no time for a mani-pedi?

Apply a coat of sandy glitter over your unevenly coloured talons. This will not only intensify the colour of your glitter paint, but also give it more depth and texture. Experiment with colours—you don’t have to do blue on blue. Try blue over black to give a dark cobalt glitter effect.

Image: Shutterstock

waves

Voluminous waves, minus the heat

It’s possible; BBlunt’s Adhuna Akhtar tells you how: “Flip damp hair over and apply a curl cream from mid-lengths to ends of your hair, scrunching it with your fingers in an upward direction. For longer lasting waves/curls, roll curls in place using U-pins and allow to dry normally at room temperature. The dryer your hair is when you release the set, the wavier your hair will be. For kinkier waves, French braid or rope braid each section and secure the ends with elastics or twist each section into a small bun and secure on the sides of your head. Use a light-hold styling product. Keep it for as long as you can (overnight if possible), then take out the braids/buns and separate the strands with your fingers, tousling as you go.

Where to find the best freshly-baked breads in Mumbai

$

0

It’s hard to ignore the faint whiff of freshly baked bread that sneakily wafts outside of a café or restaurant, and almost always magnetically beckons you inside. And it’s not just your hunger pangs that it awakens. According to experts at the University of Southern Brittany in France, it triggers a positive mood and incites a kinder approach in you towards strangers.

But simply put—it’s one of the most comforting and humble sensory eulogies to the wonders of food.

These cafes/restaurants/bakers put a lot of thought, art and mindfulness in baking that simple piece of loaf, so you don’t have to subject yourself to the sufferings of consuming pre-packaged bread off the shelf of your supermarket. From gluten-free options and delicious herby ones with sun-dried tomatoes to sugar-free sourdough and quinoa loaves, here’s where you can break some really good bread.

1/12

Multi-grain gluten-free bread at Kitchen Garden by Suzette

We didn’t think healthy and bread could be used in the same sentence, until this wholesome alternative was introduced by owner and head baker-chef Jeremie Sabbagh. With a crunchy crust and a moist inside, this bread uses ingredients like buckwheat, sunflower seeds and almond powder to make it nutrient-rich. It’s somewhere between a cake and a bread, and is probably more flavourful than your regular loaf, courtesy buckwheat. Remember though, since it’s free of any preservatives, consume it fresh on the same day as you purchase it, or slice it up and freeze it for later use. PS. It takes almost 30 hours to create a batch of their gluten-free bread, which only makes it all the more worthy of consumption.

The vintage Irani café is one of the few remaining wonders of Mumbai’s old-school culinary delights, and apart from their simple khari biscuits (which are impossible eat just one of) and mawa cake, their chai and bun maska make for great treats.

Leaves will paint the trees green, golden rays will shine high and strong, chirpy birds will spread their wings and flowers will bloom bright and colourful—they’re all welcoming spring in their freshest form. Us, beauty fiends, can do so too, with our take on spring/summer make-up trends seen on the runway.

Here’s some looks we can’t wait to try:

Back to the ’80s

It’s the season to not be afraid, to be fluid and fun, to go over the top. The ’80s taught us that a sensual scarlet can easily be pulled off as a glossy pout or even on the eyes, bold and bright. Play with colours and textures, go big on brights and don’t be afraid to shout out your personality loud and clear.

Clean, healthy skin

Summer skin needs to be fresh and hydrated. Like that warm flush on your cheeks after a short mountain hike. That luminous glow from a run. To get this no make-up freshness, start with thoroughly moisturising a cleansed face. Face oils are super nourishing, and great to prep your skin for make-up. Start with primer so your make-up stays. A light, breathable water-based foundation only on parts that need coverage, followed by a liquid luminiser or a glow balm, peachy cream blush and transluscent lip gloss, and you’ve got your summer skin ready.

Our luxe nomad is meticulous and messy, cautious yet carefree, as refined as she is relaxed—being boho has come a long way, especially when it comes to beauty. Here’s how to look like you’re prepping for a music festival, but it’s really just lunch, without going OTT.

For your skin
Your skin should emit a healthy flush and a warm natural glow, like it has been kissed by the setting sun. Use a blush that comes with equal parts rose and bronze.

For your hair
Your hair is an extension of your soul—wild and free. You can let your waves flow with the wind, or you can twirl them up into pretty braided twists. Whatever your natural state, make sure you’ve got some texture going for you.

For your eyes
Your eye make-up can wander beyond borders—elongate your wings, play with shapes, and maybe even add a colour or two.

For your nails
Your nails should mirror your shiny, happy self—keep them bold, eye-catching and every bit as adventurous.

Bright, sunny coral dominates Bobbi Brown’s Havana Brights collection. decleor-neroli-oil-serum

Take your face for aromatherapy

Decléor is sui generis in the skincare world—it bottles aromatherapy in the form of essential oils blended with botanical oils to bring the body’s natural balance back. Pure extracts of neroli, jasmine or rose enter your blood flow to energise, awaken and bring life back to your skin. Try their facial rituals, which start with a consultation and end with you taking home a personalised kit (because you will want to continue feeling its sensorial effects once you leave the spa). My facial—I picked hydration over their anti-ageing and radiance-specific treatments, and got a 90-minute massage—was a combination of delicate and strong movements. This was complemented by a back massage using shiatzu and tai chi techniques. My masseuse ensured the essential oils sunk deep into my skin and mind with her skilled fingers, leaving me with a flushed glow and a relaxed soul. Decléor Aromessence Néroli Hydrating Oil Serum, Rs 2,500

Protect your skin’s flora

It’s the upper layer of the skin that the epidermis needs to function well, and Dior has infused haberlea leaf extract and mallow flower to guard it. There’s also a blue sorbet crème and an exfoliating powder in the mix. Dior Hydra Life Masks, 3,800 each

7 real girls share their foolproof home beauty remedies

Mix up a scrubby paste of gram flour, turmeric, rose water. Gently massage it onto your face and let it sit for twenty minutes, then massage it off with cold water. This, till date, is my mother’s secret for smooth, glowing skin. Only, I fail to use it as often as I should. But when all else fails, I fall back on this fail-safe remedy and trust me, it works!

Let’s face it, labs will concoct the most advanced treatments, but the simple, all-natural remedies that our mothers, grandmothers, great grandmothers whipped up from the kitchen, still stand the test of time and continue to nourish our skin and hair.

Turns out, home remedies are a big hit at the Vogue India office. Let’s go back to our roots as the team shares its beauty secrets, DIY-style:

1/7

divya

Hair mask

Divya Jagwani, our fashion bookings editor, is known for her long, voluminous, mocha-highlighted waves. Her ultimate hair mask recipe: “Egg yolk and olive oil blended together—instant shine and direct protein for hair. Tried and tested, and it works!”

Image: Shutterstock

priyanka

Body scrub

One would think our fashion coordinator and stylist, Priyanka Parkash’s secret for bright, flushed skin is her happy, chirpy attitude. But she also gets by with a little help from this exfoliating coffee scrub: “Mix a bottle of regular instant coffee powder, sugar, coconut oil and three-four drops of vanilla essence in a bowl. Put in a jar and shove it on your bathroom shelf. Each day before getting out of the shower, scrub it all over and rinse off. If the smell of coffee is too strong, you can use a mild soap right after. It’s great for keeping the skin around the thighs and buttocks tight!”

Image: Shutterstock

milk

Face cleanser

Beauty editor Nidhi Sharma Punjabi has got more than a trick or two up her sleeve for that forever-glowing skin, but she swears by this cleansing concoction: “Cold, full-fat milk makes one hell of a creamy cleanser. For my dry, cranky skin I also mix in a bit of oatmeal powder to the milk and leave it on for 15-20 minutes. The soothing mix calms any inflammation and redness and leaves skin with a nourished glow, something you’ll never get out of store-bought foaming cleanser.”

Image: Shutterstock

chandni

Face mask

You’ll often see Chandni Sehgal, senior copy editor, strutting about the office with little white spots on her face. It’s her foolproof DIY beauty trick, and whether the team approves or not, the even-toned skin talks for itself: “Our associate photo editor Ankita has a permanent grouse against me applying multani mitti (Fuller’s earth) while at the office, but mixed with cold rose water, it is the best spot-remedy to dry up angry pimples without leaving a mark. No amount of gels and creams have worked as effectively as this for me. The earth is very drying, so use judiciously if your skin is dry or combination.”

Image: Shutterstock

ankita

Face mask

What with all those multiple outdoor shoots, our assistant photo editor, Ankita Chandra, needs a face mask to refresh and unclog her skin. Plus, it has another use too: “Malai + haldi + honey—if nothing else, it makes you feel like you’re doing your bit towards your skin and can walk around the house for a full hour without having to talk to anyone. Win-win.”

Image: Shutterstock

janine

Eye mask

Editorial assistant Janine Dubash has a solution for the universal dark circles problem, and it’s not slices of cucumber: “Let’s leave the cucumber for our evening caprioskas. I like to peel and grate raw potato, strain the juice and refrigerate it. Then, soak two cotton balls in the juice and leave it on my eyes for twenty minutes.”

Image: Shutterstock

nitya

Zit remover

Nitya Chablani, our digital features editor, might have one too many millennial lifestyle issues that need solving, but the one problem that most millennials face, ain’t messing with her. Zits. Her solution: “Squirt the juice from orange peels on your zit. It’ll burn. A lot. But you might wake up the next morning without that pimple staring you in the face.”

Adhuna Bhabani answers your most burning summer hair questions

$

When it comes to summer hair, your top three concerns would have to be hair fall, frizz and the incessant need to keep your hair off your face. We got Adhuna Bhabani, hairstylist, founder and creative director, BBlunt to crack the code to beating them all.

How do I control hair fall?
Stay hydrated—consume water and fresh seasonal summer fruits and vegetables rich in protein. Indulge in regular hair massages—the circular motion will stimulate blood flow to your scalp. Embrace your natural hair texture by avoiding heated tools, and trim your tresses every six to eight weeks to avoid split ends.

How do I keep the hair off my face?
Try the halo braid. This bohemian look is easy to pull off. Divide the hair into two sections. Start making a French braid from the parting at the back, taking consequent sections all around the hairline up till the front hairline. End the braid with a three-section braid. Repeat the same on the other side. Once done, loosen both the braids a bit. Place the ends nicely on the other side of the parting and vice versa to form a complete halo of braids. Hide the parting at the back with pins. Intentionally let some loose, wispy bits fall on the face.

What do I do about summer frizz?
Extreme variations in the weather strip off the outermost layer of the hair strand cuticle, making it brittle, rough and prone to dryness and frizz. Your saviour: an anti-frizz leave-in cream. Nourish the strand by deep conditioning and limit the use of heat on hair.

Can you get rid of your pimple overnight? We finally have an answer

Can’t deal with all the summer-induced acne anymore? Dr Geeta Mehra Fazalbhoy, dermatologist, founder, Skin & You answers your most asked questions.

Why do I get acne?
You thought you’d left acne back in your teens, but they’re back—bigger and badder. “Recurring acne could be due to various reasons—hormonal imbalance, stress, using unclean or expired make-up, an improper skincare regimen or excessive sebum secretion,” explains Dr Fazalbhoy, who suggests going for thorough hormonal therapy and tests to pinpoint the exact cause before starting treatment.

What should I look for in acne-fighting products?
Skim through the label for ingredients like tea tree oil, kaolin and zinc oxide.

How do I get rid of acne overnight?
You can’t. But applying fuller’s earth as a drying mask may help reduce inflammation.

This face mask gives you wrinkles at first, but wait till you remove it

“When you take it off you are 10 years younger.”

This was Drew Barrymore’s testament (on Instagram) when she tried South Korean beauty brand Hanacure’s debut mask—the All-in-One Facial. When you see her picture with the mask on, though, it almost looks like it’s been taken from the movie sets where stage make-up has made her look much, much older.

That’s because this mask is meant to be a skin tightening treatment, so it really clings on to your skin and wrinkles up. You paint on this potion, made out of a purifying compound, plant extracts and peptides that help collagen growth, to brighten, smoothen and tighten your skin. The kit includes a lifting serum, a gel solution and a brush. Once you mix the two, apply the blend with the brush and let it dry for about half an hour. During this time, don’t move. The brand suggests fanning your face if you feel tight or itchy, as it also increases the intensity of its effects. Finally, rinse off to reveal a #NoFilter, glowing face.

Barrymore’s a fan, and so are many others, as proved on social media. Never otherwise have creases and folds on your face seemed more appealing.

The answers to every sunscreen question you’ve ever Googled

$

We know you’ve been Googling all your sunscreen queries now that the hot summer is upon us. Dr Harshna Bijlani, dermatologist, founder, The Ageless Clinic has all the answers.

How often should I use sunscreen?
All day, every day. And it needs to be reapplied every two to three hours.

How much SPF is good?
Let’s bust a myth: people look at SPF and think a 100 would be three times more potent than a 30. Right? Wrong. In terms of the percentage protection, there is only a difference of 2 or 3 per cent. A minimum of 30 and a maximum of 50 SPF is enough.

How much sunscreen should I use?
A quarter of a teaspoon for your face, the same amount for your neck.

Does sunscreen prevent tanning?
No, it prevents burning, and is used for protection.

How should I pick the right sunscreen for my skin type?
Combination:
Use a creamy sunscreen for dry areas and a gel-based or light one for oily areas. Or opt for a light liquid-based sunscreen. Look for: antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, grapeseed, glutathione for dry areas and silicone for oily areas.
Dry: Use a cream-based formula that spreads easily but isn’t too heavy, to avoid clogged pores and sunscreen-related acne. Look for moisturising agents like lanolin, oils, vitamin E and shea butter. Dry skin is more prone to wrinkling, so opt for a sunscreen with antioxidants, vitamin C and peptides.
Sensitive: Ensure your sunscreen contains zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, which are natural sun blockers, and always do a patch test first.

Trend to try: Update classic favourite beauty looks for the new season

Kohl-rimmed eyes, opaque brown lips, soft, romantic braids… certain classics are too pretty to get old. They can, however, get a fresh new approach. Here are six new looks to try straight off the runway.

The intense black kajal and the forever top-lid-only liner flick are long due for an upgrade. Make a colour swap or give it an artistic makeover.

aifwss16d4s1fdcielle_074

Ditch black

Break the monotony of black with a colourful iteration and unexpected placement. It doesn’t need to be precise or always sitting on the lashline—work it like artistic strokes or along the crease in bright, happy colours. Seen at: Guapa

Image: Rohan Hande

elie-saab

Shape switch

If you don’t want to stray far from the classic shape, deconstruct it by starting in the middle of the upper and lower lid and making it meet not in an upward but a central feline flick. Add an unpredictable flash of silvery shadow or pop of colour in the inner corners. Seen at: Elie Saab

Image: James Cochrane

thehair2

From schoolgirl plaits to slinky fishtails—Indian hair is made for twists and turns. It’s time to make these twists riskier.

emporio-armani

Toughen up

Summon your inner warrior princess with scalp braids that loop all the way to the ends of your strands. Give your hair part a severe, braided step up. Seen at: Emporio Armani

Image: James Cochrane

erdem

Roll with it

Add dimensional drama at the back and let your soft braid sit romantically at the nape, bundled in a delicate chignon. Best of both worlds. Seen at: Erdem

Image: James Cochrane

thelips

Indian lips have always sung a deep, dark saga—in melancholic tunes of browns and burgundys; the pitch, flat-out matte. It’s time to change the way we sing our love for broody tones.

payal-pratap

Soften the blow

If you don’t want to give up your burgundy addiction, by all means, don’t. In the modern version, just dab out the dark and let a stainy, after-effect remain. Seen at: Payal Pratap

Image: Rohan Hande

dkny

Juice it up

Swipe on a high-shine gloss over your ruby red, or drizzle it with a hint of golden glitter. Dark doesn’t have to be dull anymore. Seen at: DKNY

This is probably the fastest way to lose those love handles

$

Love handles can be stubborn fat that’s hardly easy to get rid of. Physique57′s Mallika Tarkas Parekh shares a six minute routine that will help get that muffin top under control.

Small upright V with pulse (1 minute): Stand in front of a sturdy chair, and lightly place your hands on it for support. Glue your heels together and lift them slightly, with your toes a few inches apart to make a narrow V. Begin pulsing. You’ll feel the burn in your quadriceps. In the last 10 seconds, pulsate a little lower. Keep posture upright and try taking your hands your chair to test your balance.

Right side curtsy (30 seconds): With your hands on the chair, drop your heels to the ground. Take your chest forward, pop your right heel up and bring it behind your left shoulder in a curtsy position. Begin pulsing. Try to get low and stay low through your pulsing. Pull your abs in and down and engage your core.

4-part curtsy (30 seconds): Bring your right foot in, back out, up and bend toward right elbow, back down. In, out, up, down, repeat. Do this a few times, then start to do it double time.

Deli slicer (1 minute): Lean your left forearm on your chair, right on your hip and raise your right knee up and bend it toward your right elbow. Your left supporting leg should remain standing, with your left knee slightly bent so that it does not lock. Now flex and push your right leg out behind you, and while you slice your leg through the air this way, you should feel your obliques cinching. Bend, extend and repeat.

Repeat on left side.

This tip will make sure your foundation stays on all day, even in summer

We know you’ve been Googling all your make-up queries now that the hot summer is upon us. Make-up artist Puneet Saini covers the basics.

How do I make my foundation/concealer last longer?
Prep your skin with moisturiser and follow it up with a suitable primer. Allow it to settle in for a few minutes and top it with a water-based foundation for oily skin, and a mineralised one for dry skin. Buff the formula well into the skin, then dab translucent powder. Apply concealer only to areas that absolutely need coverage and set with powder. Layering with powder is key—it helps the product become one with the skin instead of just sitting on top of it. Carry it with you for touch-ups and to prevent your make-up from streaking.

How do I apply make-up in summer?
Swap a foundation for a BB cream or tinted moisturiser. Replace eyeshadow with waterproof coloured kohls and use waterproof mascara. A hint of powder blush with a soft matte lip is perfect for a day out in the sun. Go for a water-based foundation and bronzy smoky eye with mascara and high-shine gloss for night.

EDITOR’S PICK: DAVINES

There are always three kinds of stuff beauty editors get sent—stuff they kinda like, use for a bit and then lose in the depths of their handbags; stuff that gets tossed into drawers or gifted to greedy family/friends and colleagues; and, finally, stuff that totally floors them, finds prime real estate in their bathroom cabinets and induces panic attacks even when they are nowhere close to finishing. Davines is the third kind. Let me tell you, I’m not a beauty editor easily pleased—I know the history and geography of brands that people don’t know exist, read (and re-read!) product reviews in my lunch break and find time to try on at least three new brands on every holiday. I was introduced to Italy-based Davines as a kind gift from
a celebrity facialist, and one shampoo, one conditioner and a hundred hours of research later, I’m a total convert. The airy formulas of the shampoos are packed with botanicals to leave your hair as light as silk, the conditioners feel/smell/look more like puddings than masks and answer every hair problem. As for me, I don’t remember what life was before the Oi collection. As someone who never does anything remotely exciting with her hair (it’s always let loose or in an I’m-trying-to-work bun) and washes them every single day, this quartet of shampoo, conditioner, oil and milk is a lifesaver. Besides, Davines smells deliciously divine. —Nidhi Sharma Punjabi
