As Lakmé Fashion Week kickstarts today, fashion onlookers wait to see what the summer of 2016 is going to look like. Every season, innovative concepts switch things up and bring a fresh perspective to traditional techniques.
This time, Nikhil Thampi’s show promises to be one such. The designer has collaborated with Lakmé Salon to present the Show Stopping Illuminate S/R ’16 collection. Inspired by the universe—fluid, reflective and glittering—these larger than life elements will translate into hairstyles, make-up and nails art that is co-created by Thampi and Lakmé Salon experts Sushma Khan, Shailesh Moolya and Disha Meher.
“Always keeping the strength of a woman at the forefront, this collection also comprises an array of powerful silhouettes with the aim to showcase a new take on prêt wear. The use of unique metal links to connect slashed patterns and fabrics almost represent a stairway to heaven, creating the ‘connection’ between reality and the cosmos,” says Thampi on his collection.
While the show takes place on April 1, we give you a sneak peek into one of the many looks that will be presented. This look is called Candy Flush; rosy, soft and dewy, the skin is strobed to give it an ethereal glow. Shades of candy pink add pops of colour to the eyes and lips. Loose waves are highlighted with brown and blonde tints, and the nails are given a transverse gradient with pink and white colours.
